Newtown Chapter Breakfast Fundraiser Celebrates 25 Years of Supporting Regional Hospice and Home Care

More than 300 supporters attended the 25th Anniversary Newtown Chapter Breakfast fundraiser for Regional Hospice and Home Care, held June 11 at the Waterview in Monroe. More than $25,330 was raised at the event, which featured a keynote by Regional Hospice's Perinatal and Pediatric Hospice Nurse Christine Mastropietro, RN.

"We are so thankful for Chris's work with our very young hospice patients. She has a special connection with working with children who are ill," said Regional Hospice President and CEO Cynthia E. Roy. "Our volunteers consistently support the work we do at Regional Hospice to bring real hope to those facing advanced illnesses, their caregivers and their families. The efforts of the Newtown Chapter in particular over the past 25 years have meant a tremendous amount to our hospice and our work to build a new hospice residence in Danbury."

Regional Hospice is currently building the first and only private-room, family focused hospice residence facility in the state of Connecticut, with plans to accept patients in December 2014. The construction of the new 36,000-square-foot building is being funded by donations, like those raised at the Newtown Breakfast, with only $4 million needed to complete the $12 million total cost.

While the Newtown Chapter held the event to honor the work of Regional Hospice, the Chapter itself was honored at the event by State Representatives Mitch Bolinsky and Dan Carter. The representatives presented a proclamation on behalf of the General Assembly congratulating the Newtown Chapter for its 25 years of fundraising excellence for Regional Hospice and Home Care.
