BONE MARROW DRIVE FOR FRED (and others fighting blood cancers)

Register to be a bone marrow donor on Sunday August 10, 2014, on the lawn, at the Danbury War Memorial, 1 Memorial Dr. Danbury, 11AM-5PM. In case of inclement weather, the drive will be held inside the War Memorial. Blood cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths and when chemotherapy can't beat the blood cancer, a bone marrow transplant may be the patient's best hope for survival. Only half of those in need of a transplant are able to get one.

Fred is a Brookfield resident who is not only battling leukemia, but he is also disabled with M.S. Fred has overcome many challenges in his life. He is a devoted husband who cares for his disabled wife and is an inspiration to everyone around him. Fred has been a member of the ASPCA for twenty years and in his spare time he cheers avidly for the NY Giants. He is a former electrical engineer and father to his Yorkipoo, Gordon. The Altberg, DeJoseph and Tarsi families are organizing this drive for their beloved family member.

Anyone who is unable to attend the drive can register online here: here to receive a free swab kit. To register as a donor, you must be between the ages of 18-55, in good health, at least 110lbs, and willing to donate to any patient in need.

Please help Fred and others find their match by registering to become a bone marrow donor. In less than five minutes, you can potentially save a life!!

Hot dogs, beverages and chips will be provided.
