Veterans Hall of Fame Nomination Deadline Extended

Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman and Department of Veterans’ Affairs Commissioner Linda Schwartz today announced that the deadline for nominations for the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame is being extended from September 1, 2014 to October 1, 2014.

“Connecticut’s Veterans Hall of Fame is one way we honor our veterans and highlight just how important they are to our communities and our nation,” said Lt. Governor Wyman. “Even after years of service in our Armed Forces, these men and women continue to give back, investing their time and energy in our communities and our future. We are so appreciative and grateful to them and their families.”

“This award honors those veterans who left the military and continued to make contributions to their communities,” said Commissioner Schwartz. “The Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame has honored many fine men and women who kept serving long after they wore the uniform. Their accomplishments have enriched our state in countless ways. We hope people will take this opportunity to recognize a veteran that they know.”

Among the requirements, the nominee must have been born or resided in Connecticut for at least five years; the nominee must meet the definition of a “veteran” under Connecticut General Statutes 27-103; and the nominee must have received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Armed Forces.

The deadline for applications is now October 1, 2014.
