New Canaan Food Revolution 2015

The Jamie Oliver Food Revolution returns to New Canaan, CT on Saturday, May 16th 10.00am – 12.00pm, once again getting kids and parents excited about food.

The Bravery Passport was created to highlight Food Revolution Founder, Jamie Oliver’s wish: “To create a strong sustainable movement to educate every child about food, inspire families to cook again and empower people everywhere to fight obesity.”

Families need to register in advance for a Bravery Passport, which lists participating New Canaan restaurants and food shops. Kids then go on a food trail, sampling tasters and getting a stamp for their passport. Food Ambassador Rachel Lampen says: “Last year New Canaan was buzzing with 350 local children visiting 16 different locations. They each sampled things they wouldn’t normally try - kale smoothies, tuna tartare, cockscomb, escargot, octopus, stewed calamari and stinky cheese. It was a crazy couple of hours but educational and huge fun for everyone. It also showcased New Canaan’s fabulous dining scene”.

There have already been over 200 registrations so don't delay! Bravery Passport: http://www.hamlethub.com/ncfoodrevolution.

Youngest Teen ‘Chopped’ winner Chef Hunter Zampa will be joining Food Revolution sponsor, Walter Stewart’s Market in the Pop Up Park. Chef Hunter is going to create something nutritious and delicious for the kids to try. For those who manage to complete the passport – they will be entered into a competition, where the first prize is a ‘Kids Cooking’ Session with Chef Hunter!

Rachel Lampen ends by saying: “The Pop Up Park in New Canaan will be a mini food festival, with special guests and live music. I have partnered with local charity, Filling in the Blanks - who fight childhood hunger by providing needy children with meals. There are new venues signed up and Peachwave Yogurt will be showcasing their brand new froyo truck, so put May, 16th in your diary and pay us a visit!”
