"Some Like It Hot" is the next film in the Sunday Cinema Series on Aug. 16

The 1959 classic, Some Like It Hot, starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon, will be shown in HD on Wednesday, August 19 at 1 PM and 7 PM at the Edmond Town Hall, presented by the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission. Thanks to an anonymous donor, all patrons will receive a free popcorn with $2.00 admission. In 2000, Some Like It Hot topped the American Film Institute's 100 Years...100 Laughs as the #1 Funniest Movie in American Cinema. Costume designer, Orry-Kelly, won an Oscar for Best Costume Design, Black & White for Some Like It Hot, for which he designed one of the most unforgettable, form-fitting dresses Marilyn Monroe ever wore in her films. Additionally, the film garnered five Oscar nominations, including Best Director to Billy Wilder, and Best Actor in a Leading Role to Jack Lemmon. Golden Globe Awards went to the film for Best Motion Picture-Comedy, Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemmon.
