Eduard W. Schielke, 93, of Newtown, CT, formerly of Roselle, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 18, 2017. He was the loving husband of the late Theodora Schielke.

Mr. Schielke was born in Niederfeld, Poland on January 14, 1924. He lived in Germany with his wife and children after the war and immigrated to the United States in 1957. He settled in New Jersey and lived in Roselle for 48 years. In 2014 he moved to Newtown, CT with his wife to be closer to their daughter. Mr. Schielke worked for General Motors Corporation on the assembly line.

Mr. Schielke was an active and devoted member of the Deutscher Club of Clark for over 40 years. He enjoyed the club's many activities: dancing, trips and being with friends. Ed was on the Board of Directors for many years and contributed immensely to the club's functions. He will be missed by many friends and members.

Mr. Schielke is survived by his daughter, Renate Nelson, of Ridgefield, CT and his son, Klaus Schielke of West Monroe, NY. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren: Gina Fitzgerald and her husband, John; Christine Smith and her husband, Anthony and Eric Schielke. In addition to his children and grandchildren, Mr. Schielke is survived by 7 great grandchildren: Connor, Caroline, Cavan, Georgia, Michaela, Cora and Eliza. Ed's family was very important to him. He loved them and was very proud of them.

Funeral services are private. Kane Funeral Home; Ridgefield, CT is in charge of arrangements.
