The Newtown Choral Society, under the direction of Mary Andreotta, and accompanied by Susan Anthony-Klein, begins rehearsals for its holiday concert Wednesday, September 13 and is inviting prospective members to attend. There are openings in all voices. Rehearsals are Wednesdays at The Newtown Middle School. The concert is set for December 10 at The Meeting House
“We will be singing a variety of pieces with the theme of light,” director Mary Andreotta said, “Including music from the movie La La Land, from Appalachia, jazz and gospel styles and 20th century. Of course we will also include songs of the Holiday season in the program. “
Now celebrating its 31st year, the Newtown Choral Society is a community chorus and welcomes members from all area towns. The choir performs two concerts a year and welcomes both novice and experienced singers. The choir is supported through dues, ticket sales and program ads.
