Fairfield County's Only Organic Coffee Roaster Receives Accolades

Shearwater Organic Coffee Roasters, located in Trumbull, CT, has been named a “Top Pick for Thanksgiving” in the Fall 2015 issue of Connecticut Food and Farm Magazine. The list, comprised of twelve Connecticut products deemed the “best of the best,” was curated by Max Restaurant Group's Executive Chef Scott Miller and Winter Caplanson, the Executive Director of Connecticut food and Farm.

This is one of several recent achievements for Shearwater, which was founded just two years ago by Ed Freedman of Fairfield, CT after nearly 30 years of home roasting. The company has garnered national attention for their superior organic coffee, having received three 92 point ratings from coffeereview.com in the past year. Shearwater was selected by Thrillist.com as one of America's top new roasters in 2014, and was featured alongside Chef Robert Irvine at the Savor CT Food and Wine show at the CT Convention Center in Hartford earlier this year. Shearwater donates generously to local CT charities and is the featured artisanal coffee for the 2014 and 2015 AmeriCares Airlift benefit held at the Westchester County Airport.
