Many Connecticut residents are opting for a full-service private ski experience

Editor's note: HamletHub spotlights The Hermitage Club - a full-service private Vermont getaway whose mission is to give back to communities and members.

For the second year in a row,  The Hermitage Club is the fastest growing company in Vermont and was recently named for the second year in a row to Inc. Magazine’s Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies in the United States.

Located on Haystack Mountain, The Hermitage Club is a 1,400-acre haven in the Deerfield Valley of Southern Vermont. Located in the towns of West Dover and Wilmington, VT, The Club provides members with four seasons of private mountain activities, luxury accommodations, and a worry free, safe environment for families of all generations. The private club community celebrates the outdoors and family fun, with activities ranging from alpine skiing and boarding, to cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

If bundling up and hitting the slopes isn’t your thing, The Hermitage Club also offers a variety of summer water and mountain adventure activities including hiking, swimming and kayaking in addition to golfing at its 18-hole championship golf course.

The Club recently announced that membership is approaching 700 families. “The experience we offer to our members is unprecedented,” said Dale Ribaudo, Senior Vice President at the Hermitage Club. “With no lift lines and nearly perfect ski conditions, the Hermitage Club is changing skiing in the East. Our membership has doubled in the past year, and we are looking forward to another year providing an unparalleled experience to our members and their guests.”

And members can feel good about what The Hermitage Club represents - because at the heart and soul of this premier ski club and four-season resort, is philanthropy.

New Canaan resident and Club member Nicole Cribbins is grateful to The Hermitage Club for extending their hand to support Young Women’s League of New Canaan and BuildOn.  She explains, “Since day one, The Club has been supportive of several nonprofits our family supports, and I am glad to see this commitment to giving back has not wavered as membership has increased.  Many members are involved in charitable organizations, and The Hermitage Club has made it clear that they will support its members and those organizations whenever possible.”

This year alone, The Hermitage Club has raised more than $800K for charities and donated more than 140 guest memberships to non-profits.

Founder of The Hermitage Club, Jim Barnes, expects this number to climb significantly in 2016. “We believe strongly in giving back, whether that is through creating jobs and contributing to the economies in Deerfield Valley, Vermont or making donations to charities in the markets we serve, helping our communities is part of The Hermitage Club’s core mission.”

Nearly 500 local and national charities have been served by donations from The Club including:  The Hole in the Wall Gang, Make-A-Wish, The Boy Scouts, Ronald McDonald House, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Voices of September 11, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital's, Easter Seals, as well as local hospitals, schools and organizations.
