The Windmill Diner in Danbury to open under new ownership as The Mill Plain Diner

The Windmill Diner, located at 14 Mill Plain Road in Danbury, closed its doors today and will reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, January 5, as The Mill Plain Diner. Now under new ownership, the popular diner is in good hands with George Marnelakis who is the longtime owner of the successful Blue Colony Diner in Newtown.

Windmill Diner owners, the Beretis and Rountos families, shared this heartfelt note to their loyal customers on their Facebook Page today.

To our loyal customers --

After more than 40 years in business serving the Greater Danbury community, The Windmill Diner will serve its last fresh and delicious meal today, Monday January 4th, 2016.

We are so grateful to our family, friends, staff and most of all -- our customers -- who have made the experience of running this restaurant so unforgettable. We could not have done what we did for so long without you.

On Tuesday, January 5th, the doors of 14 Mill Plain Road will reopen as The Mill Plain Diner under new ownership. But wait -- don't quit your Turkey Clubs on account of this ownership change!

Rest assured, your dining experience will be in great hands. We, as a family, made the careful decision to retire and sell the business to someone we trust and someone we have absolute faith can uphold the exemplary service and quality to which our customers are accustomed. You may know him, actually! He's the owner of the extremely popular Blue Colony Diner off Exit 10 in Newtown, CT.

It has been an honor to serve this community for more than four decades. It is not possible to articulate the joy our families have experienced as a result of the business you helped us create, so thank you. Thank you for helping us build a humble diner business into a local legacy.

ευχαριστώ (Thank You in Greek)
