AARP Connecticut is looking to fill two full time positions. 

Associate State Director - Communications

AARP CT is looking for someone who is able to work collaboratively in a fast paced and demanding environment with staff and volunteers to develop AARP’s public presence across the state and in local communities by:  establishing the framework for positioning AARP with the media, the membership and opinion leaders; developing strategic communications plans and key messaging;  overseeing media relations and social media channels (Facebook, Twitter); implementing communications tools, including new technology; training and partnering with volunteers to build communications reach; supporting collaborative relationships with other organizations, and supporting the national office in launching national communications initiatives.

  • Responsible for development and implementation of integrated brand strategies, including paid advertising, events, local sponsorships and collateral materials.  Manages the execution of communications across the state and serves as liaison between internal clients and the agency/vendors in order to deliver integrated campaigns that drive organizational objectives (with special emphasis on local relevance and engagement). Develops written communications to support the overall strategy across multiple channels and to targeted audiences.

Sr. Operations Associate

This position requires the ability to prioritize and multitask, as well as recognize problems and respond using good judgment to make thoughtful decisions. Within the established standards and guidelines provided by the State Director and the National Office, the individual in this position has authority to accomplish assignments using independent judgment. This individual regularly interacts with staff at all levels both within States and National Group and other departments within the Association (Finance, Brand Management, etc), Volunteers and outside vendors. This individual has access to the complete State Office financial structure and a strong responsibility for timely submissions and maintenance of all financial information.  Requires willingness to gain a general working knowledge of AARP State Office specific work and priorities.  Ability to adapt to changing deadlines and priorities and serve as resource to all State Staff on financial, administrative and systems changes.
