Be Part of the Harvest at Shelter Rock Winery

IT’s Time to Make the Wine Again…Be Part of the Harvest at Shelter Rock Winery

Celebrating its fourth harvest, Shelter Rock Winery and Winemaking Club invites wine aficionados to become part of the winemaking process with their friends and family …from grape crushing to bottling.  Club members get to walk a mile in the shoes of Petretta, all the way from Santo Stefano Del Sole, near Naples. Petretta will guide members as they choose the best grape through the entire process of winemaking using French or American Oak barrels, as practiced through the ages.

“I love introducing people to the magic and joy of making their own wine,” said Petretta whose family has been making wine for over 500 years in Italy. Coming from this long line of Italian wine makers, it’s no surprise that Petretta chose to bring the gift of fine wine to the state at his urban winery, the only one in Fairfield County.

Petretta provides club members with grapes from top vineyards in California along with bottles, corks and personalized labels as well as equipment to crush, rack, bottle and store each member’s wine.  “We like to think of this as family, says Giovanni,” members get together for wine tastings and catered events throughout the year.  It’s more than a bottle of wine…it’s an experience”

This year’s Harvest begins in October however to be eligible for prizes, register before the end of July.  The winery will be closed for three weeks in August, however,  registrations can be  done online or visit the winery for a tour  when it reopens on august 27th.
