Edmond Town Hall to Raise Price of Movies

Edmond Town Hall Theatre will increase the price of movie tickets to $3 effective Friday, December 2, 2016, the first increase in 20 years.

The move follows major theater improvements made during the past few years, including renovation of the theater’s architecture, installation of a digital projector, updated sound and lighting and balcony improvements.

“The cost of maintaining the building and the digital technology required to run movies is higher than in the past,” said Margot Hall, Chairman of the Board. “After many years, it is time to bring movie and rental prices more in line with what it costs to offer these services.”

The Edmond Town Hall, completed in 1931 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was a gift from Newtown benefactress Mary Elizabeth Hawley. It has served as the heart of Newtown since its inception by providing residents with governmental services space; affordable family entertainment through its theater; sports opportunities in its gymnasium; and, elegant space rentals to help residents and neighbors gather or celebrate life events.  The Edmond Town Hall Board of Managers is a group of electors responsible for the planning and oversight of the iconic building.
