Story Lab for Young Explorers meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 am to 11:00 am.

This 30 minute program of STEM themed stories, activities, and crafts takes place in the EverWonder classroom. Parents must stay with their children during the program. Program is free with museum admission.

Special Activities Wednesday, February 1, 2017 Science Lab: Candy Heart Challenge Let's work on our engineering skills!

On Wednesday, February 1st, we are designing and building walls out of conversation hearts. Come build a load bearing wall or a non-load bearing wall. Children will test the strength of their wall through a wind test.

Come learn about shadows on Groundhog Day at EverWonder Children's Museum.

Tuesday, February 7, 2017 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Art Lab Change: Butterfly Hearts Butterfly x Hearts = Perfectly Symmetric!

Come learn about symmetry and lines of symmetry through making a butterfly out of hearts in EverWonder's newest art lab: Butterfly Hearts.

Wednesday, February 8, 2017 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Science Lab: Love Bead Coding Do you know the l-o-v-e code?

Children will learn binary coding through creating hearts with pipe cleaners and then stringing beads in binary sequence to create Valentine's Day messages. Through this activity, children will also learn about patterns and work on their gross motor skills.

Come make a watercolor heart valentine for a special family member or friend at EverWonder Children's Museum on Valentine's Day.

Wednesday, February 15, 2017 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Science Lab: Thaumatropes

We are taking a trip back to the 19th century to make thaumatropes! A thaumatrope is an optical illusion toy with a disk with a picture on each side attached to either a piece of string or a stick. When the thaumatrope is twirled quickly the images blend into one image. Monday,

February 20, 2017 10:00 am to 5:00 pm President’s Day On Monday, February 20th, EverWonder Children's Museum will be open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm in honor of President's Day!

We will be conducting the penny cleaning experiment. During this experiment, children will learn about chemical reactions and atoms during this experiment. Children will create their own solutions to clean pennies out of water, vinegar, soap and baking soda. Wednesday, February 22, 2017 Science Lab: Spoon Maracas Shake shake shake... shake shake shake... shake your very own maraca!

On Wednesday, February 22nd, children will make their own maracas out of plastic eggs, spoons, rice and masking tape. 


Museums hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 am -5:00 pm and Sunday 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. The museum is located at 31 Pecks Lane Newtown, CT 06470. Regular admission is $7.00 for visitors over 1 year of age. Memberships and gift certificates are available for purchase.
