April Events at EverWonder Children's Museum in Newtown

 EverWonder Children’s Museum is pleased to announce its calendar for April 2017

Story Lab for Young Explorers meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 am to 11:00 am

This 30 minute program of STEM themed stories, activities, and crafts takes place in the EverWonder classroom. Parents must stay with their children during the program. Program is free with museum admission. Registration for EverWonder Summer STEM Programs is now open.

Our summer programs are geared for children ages 5 to 11. Programming will be divided into two age categories, Young Innovators: ages 5-7 and Junior Innovators: ages 8-11. T his year, our summer programs will run for eight weeks, starting on Wednesday, July 5th. Each week will focus on a different STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) theme. Each week will focus on a different subject with hands-on experiments and activities. Your child will also have the opportunity to explore and learn in our museum daily.

Special Activities Saturday, April 1, 2017 10:00 am to 5:00 pm ~ EverWonder’s Anniversary Party

EverWonder Children's Museum is turning two years old! Come celebrate our anniversary on Saturday, April 1st. Join us for Eat-A-Bug, face painting, temporary tattoos, and science demos. The Decadent Dog Food Truck will be selling their delicious hot dogs in the parking lot. Members will be entered into a $50 off birthday party raffle.

Wednesday, April 5, 2017 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Science Lab: Rain in a Jar It’s raining! It’s pouring!

Children will learn about clouds and rain through using a sponge to represent a cloud. Children will be given a jar, a sponge, water and food coloring in order to conduct this experiment.

Saturday, April 8, 2017 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Spring Fair at Echo Hose Auxiliary

Come join EverWonder at Echo Hose Auxiliary's Spring Fair. Over 30 local vendors will be at the event. Kids area includes: Touch-a-Firetruck, face painting, Egg activities, fire safety lessons. The Spring Fair is located at Echo Hose Hook & Ladder Co.1 379 Coram Avenue Shelton, CT.

Wednesday, April 12, 2017 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm Science Lab: Rainbow Butterfly Symmetry

Make beautiful butterflies on Wednesday, April 12th from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Children will paint half of their butterfly then fold it in half to create symmetrical patterns. In this activity, children will learn about patterns, symmetry, and lines of symmetry.

Saturday, April 15, 2017 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Easter Egg Hunt Seek and find

 

EverWonder's favorite spring activity, the Easter Egg Hunt, is coming back on Saturday, April 15th. Egg drops on the hour while supplies last.

Sunday, April 16, 2017 Easter Sunday EverWonder Children’s Museum will be closed on Sunday, April 16th.

Wednesday, April 19, 2017 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Science Lab: Paper Airplanes

Who can design and build the fastest airplane? Children will design various types of paper airplanes and see which design will fly the farthest. Children will learn about aerodynamics and engineering in this activity.

Saturday, April 22, 2017 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Earth Day: Recycled Bird Feeders

Come help protect the environment at EverWonder on Earth Day. On Saturday, April 22nd, come make a recycled bird feeder out of a cardboard tube, Crisco and birdseed. EverWonder will also be giving away 50 white birch trees in honor of Earth Day. First come, first serve.

Wednesday, April 26, 2017 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Science Lab: Pinwheels Harness the power of the wind 

On Wednesday, April 26th, children will create their own pinwheel. During this activity, children will learn about the concepts of energy, power, forces and simple machines.

Museums hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 am -5:00 pm and Sunday 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. The museum is located at 31 Pecks Lane Newtown, CT 06470. Regular admission is $7.00 for visitors over 1 year of age. Memberships and gift certificates are available for purchase.
