Evening Howl for Pups of All Ages
Date: May 5, 2017
Time: 6 pm
Fee: $16 – adults / $13 – children
Enjoy visiting the wolves during their favorite hour - dusk. Learn about the mythology, biology and ecology of wolf families and discover why May is a magical time for packs in North America. This time of year, wolves are out searching for prey as they prepare for the birth of this year’s pups! Guests will take a short sunset hike to howl with Ambassador Wolves Atka, Alawa, Nikai and Zephyr and behold the WCC’s critically endangered red wolves and Mexican wolves. All guests will be served weather-appropriate treats. Please bring flashlights. Pre-registration is required.
Pack Chat for Kids
Date: May 6, 2017

Fee: $14 – adults / $11 – children
This is the best introduction to wolves for families with young children. Kids will learn about the mythology surrounding wolves and the important role of wolves in the natural world. This is an exciting time for wolves; they’re out searching for prey as they prepare for the birth of this year’s pups! Guests will visit Ambassador Wolves Atka, Alawa, Nikai and Zephyr as well as the WCC’s critically endangered red wolves and Mexican gray wolves. Pre-registration is required.

Whether the wolves are living on the Arctic tundra or the high desert of the southwest, wolf families are out searching for prey as they prepare for the birth of this year’s pups! Full Moon Wolf Walk for Pups of All Ages
Date: May 10, 2017
Time: 7 pm
Fee: $20 per person
Celebrate the May full moon, “the Flower Moon,” with the Wolf Conservation Center’s moon-loving wolves! Flowers spring forth in abundance this month, so enjoy the sweet aroma while keeping cozy by the WCC's outdoor fire pit. In addition to yummy treats, guests will be treated to the symphony of howls from the 20+ wolves that call the WCC home. Guests will learn about the history of wolves in the United States, the importance of wolves in a healthy ecosystem and the efforts to save these magnificent creatures for future generations. Spring isn’t only about flowers; it’s an exciting time for wolves too! Whether living on the Arctic tundra or the high desert of the southwest, wolf families are out searching for prey as they celebrate the arrival of this year’s pups! Guests will then take a short moonlit walk to visit Ambassador Wolves Atka, Alawa, Nikai and Zephyr. Please bring flashlights. Pre-registration is required.
Sleeping with Wolves

Sleeping with Wolves, the Wolf Conservation Center's (WCC) popular nocturnal adventure experience, gives guests a chance to camp out overnight with the 20+ wolves that call the WCC home! With all the howls, circling vultures, and nature's nighttime chatter, you'll feel like you're camping under the stars with wild wolves. We might not be Yellowstone, but we're pretty close! Pre-registration is required. Space is limited and dates sell out quickly!
Cost: $299 per 4-person tent
Singles: $150 per person (must bring your own tent)

Sketching Safari
Date: May 21, 2017

Learn to sketch wolves with wildlife and conservation artist Alison Nicholls! Nicholls is a member of Artists For Conservation, the Society of Animal Artists, the Explorers Club and the Salmagundi Club. Her work has been featured in wildlife art magazines in the USA and UK, has been exhibited at the Botswana Mission to the United Nations in New York, and has been used by the US Department of State to promote the “Coalition Against Wildlife Trafficking” initiative. During the program, Nicholls will explain some of the special challenges she has faced when sketching wildlife in the field and will talk about how to overcome them, whether you are sketching wolves in Yellowstone or elephants in Africa. Then, with her guidance, you will be able to try your own hand at sketching WCC's ambassador wolves! Pre-registration is required.
Sketching Materials
The materials listed below are what I normally use for my field sketching trips. They dry easily, can be packed away quickly and (apart from my sketchbook) all fit inside a long pencil case. I do not work from an easel. You are welcome to bring whatever you like, but I highly recommend dry materials like pencils and pens or pastels. You will be doing a lot of short sketches as the wolves will be moving around. The idea is to capture the movement and simple shapes, not to complete a finished painting. I have a field box of watercolors but this is completely optional. Make sure you bring a sketchbook with plenty of paper so you can work freely. I highly recommend 11x14" or similar size. - 2 or 3 pencils (HB, 2B, 4B) plus eraser.
- Sketching pens (black or brown or grey looks great) or pastels or colored pencils.

Join us for this special opportunity to photograph the WCC’s Ambassador Wolves: Atka, Alawa, Nikai and Zephyr, in a natural, wooded setting! Guests will also be given access to photograph the WCC critically endangered Mexican wolves and red wolves from vantage points not generally available during regular visits. Please dress for the weather. Pre-registration is required. Space is very limited, so make your reservation early.
