Newtown Referendum Results: Local Budgets & Capital Requests PASS

Nearly 20% of Newtown voters headed to the Newtown Middle School gym yesterday to cast their vote in the Budget Referendum. The town's local budgets and capital requests passed.

Budget facts:

1) the BoS spending plan is $40,399,575

2) the BoE spending plan is $72,995,575

3) debt obligations are 7.9% of total budget The total request for the Town of Newtown includes a mill rate increase of 0.27, and a budget increase of 0.82%. State revenue is expected to decline.
