Connecticut Food Bank Seeks Volunteers for August Summer Supper Mobile Pantry Distribution Sites

Connecticut Food Bank has upcoming volunteer opportunities during the month of August at its summer supper mobile pantry sites in New Haven and Fairfield Counties. The following volunteer positions are available:

Driver assistants to help the mobile pantry driver unload food items and set up tables for food distribution

Volunteers to collect data at mobile pantry sites used for metric reporting

Volunteers to assist with food distribution (great as a group activity for eight-ten people)

All volunteer shifts take place in the afternoon or early evening and have a time commitment of two to four hours. These are great opportunities for you, your family, or your workplace to get involved with hunger awareness in Connecticut.

Connecticut Food Bank CEO, Bernie Beaudreau, has worked alongside volunteers in many capacities. “Volunteers are vital to the success of our work. Without them, we could not reach even a fraction of the people in need that we currently serve. Volunteers help us in many ways, from office work to food sorting and distribution and in education and advocacy. Each role is necessary for us to fulfill our mission,” he said.

About the Connecticut Food Bank:

The Connecticut Food Bank is committed to alleviating hunger in Connecticut by providing food resources, raising awareness of the challenges of hunger and advocating for people who need help meeting basic needs. The Connecticut Food Bank partners with the food industry, food growers, donors and volunteers to distribute nutritious food to people in need, which last year provided nearly 21 million meals. We distribute that food through a network of community based programs to six Connecticut counties - Fairfield, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London and Windham counties – where more than 300,000 people struggle with hunger.
