KeyBank Announces $105,000 Grant to Connecticut Food Bank

During a special celebration event held outside its branch and market headquarters on 195 Church Street in New Haven, KeyBank announced a $105,000 grant to the Connecticut Food Bank. The multi-year grant will support the work of the Connecticut Food Bank providing food to its network of more than 600 community-based food assistance programs, which serve an average of 148,000 people each month.

“This generous grant from KeyBank helps us keep moving toward a hunger-free Connecticut,” said Bernie Beaudreau, CEO of the Connecticut Food Bank. “It’s truly an investment in our communities.”

The grant announcement came as KeyBank and the Connecticut Food Bank celebrated the completion of their month-long “Super-Size-Me” Food Drive, held at nine different Key branch locations across the state. More than $3,300 in funds were collected along with nearly 1,500 pounds of food. Combined, it will provide more than 7,820 meals to Connecticut residents who struggle with hunger.

The drive was the inspiration of KeyBank employee, James Trimble. A longtime volunteer with the Connecticut Food Bank, James has made his annual drive a tradition and has raised enough food and funds to provide nearly 16,000 meals since 2013.

“The Connecticut Food Bank works tirelessly to fight hunger across the state, in many of the communities we serve,” said Jeff Hubbard, KeyBank Connecticut and Western Massachusetts Market President. “We are proud to support their programs and the many people they feed, and we couldn’t be prouder of James’ efforts. We hope this grant takes us one step closer to ending hunger in Connecticut.”
