TV Naturalist Jeff Corwin Brings Animal Friends to The Maritime Aquarium on Nov. 6

NORWALK, CT – Jeff Corwin, the Emmy Award-winning television biologist and adventurer, will share some of his experiences and insights – and introduce some of his live animal friends – in two special shows on Wed., Nov. 6 at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.

The popular host of nature programs on Animal Planet, Discovery and ABC will come to Norwalk for shows at 4 & 7:30 p.m. in The Maritime Aquarium's IMAX Theater.

"There are so many 'adventurer,' 'explorer,' 'naturalist' TV shows these days, but they're all trying to follow the model that was set by Jeff Corwin," said Jennifer Herring, president of The Maritime Aquarium. "His youthfulness and passion and knowledge have inspired a new generation of stewards of the environment. We're excited and honored to be welcoming him to The Maritime Aquarium."

Kids at The Maritime Aquarium were first introduced to a 26-year-old Jeff Corwin back in 1994, through his participation in Robert Ballard's JASON Project broadcasts of a live scientific mission to the rain forests of Belize.

For nearly 20 years since, Corwin has produced and hosted a variety of popular television series on the Disney Channel, Discovery Channel, NBC, Animal Planet, The Travel Channel and the Food Network. In addition to exploring the state of our planet's wildlife and ecology, Corwin has served as an environmental and science correspondent for CNN, CBS and NBC news. He has shared his wildlife and conservation work with a wide variety of national TV hosts, including Oprah Winfrey, Jay Leno and Conan O'Brian.

His popularity has placed him in such varied places as on a float in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and on People Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" list.

Corwin currently is executive producer and host of "Ocean Mysteries," in which he teams with experts at the Georgia Aquarium to share extraordinary stories that lie beneath the waves while enhancing our understanding about the oceans' life-sustaining value to the planet. It airs on Saturday mornings on ABC.

The Massachusetts native has written several books, including "100 Heartbeats: The Race to Save Earth's Most Endangered Species" and launched Jeff Corwin's Explorer Series, which consist of interactive, multimedia e-books focusing on wildlife.

Tickets for one of Corwin's shows at The Maritime Aquarium are $45 ($40 for members). Sell-outs are expected. To reserve tickets, go to www.maritimeaquarium.org or call (203) 852-0700, ext. 2206.
