Leclerc Contemporary is pleased to announce the opening of its fifth gallery exhibition, “Necessity”, featuring mixed media and assemblage works by artists Elise Black, Constance Kiermaier, Daniel Mosher Long, Lior Modan, Fred Otnes and Michael Sanzone. A special preview of diverse works selected from the monograph "Fred Otnes Collage Paintings" by Jill Bossert will be included and Leclerc will offer a few rare limited edition silkscreen prints of these works for collectors. The public is invited to an opening reception on Thursday, September 25th, from 6-8 PM.
Exhibit Curator Robert Hubany states “It has been said that necessity is the mother of invention. As far as necessities go which came first? Early humans observing spiders and nest building birds to learn the craft of net building and weaving or did the spider and bird learn by watching humans…? Our thoughts are sometimes left to percolate off into the ethers of ones personal headspace only to be retrieved in a sudden bright epiphany by some chain of events. It’s here where we find the inventive use of the familiar transposed to make something special, never before seen and functioning anew in the world. The objects and materials in this exhibition were carefully selected, assembled and guaranteed to grow your mind.”
