Groovin’ with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Felix Cavaliere & his Rascals at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, January 30

A ‘60s legend and Rock and Roll Hall-of Famer, Felix Cavaliere & his Rascals had five Top 20 albums, thirteen top 40 singles, and three No. 1 hits with songs such as "Good Lovin'," "Girl Like You," "I’ve Been Lonely Too Long," "Groovin’," "You Better Run," "A Beautiful Morning" and the inspiring "People Got To Be Free." Still a force in popular music, Felix Cavaliere is returning to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, January 30, at 8 p.m. with The Rascals who will perform some of the original rock group’s most popular hits. Special guest, The Way-Back Machine, features four musicians from Connecticut who share a passion for the music of the ‘60s and ‘70s and play “the music that takes you back.” Gallo Ristorante (5 Grove St., Ridgefield) will pour a complimentary glass of house wine with dinner the night of this event when ticket is presented. An AllShows.com VIP Party Pass ($25 addt’l per person), which includes a pre-show cocktail party 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. with open bar, hors-d’oeuvre and priority parking, is available for this show, which is part of the Xfinity Rock Series, with media sponsor B107.3fm.

Felix Cavaliere & The Rascals were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, the highest recognition a band/musician can receive, and into the Hit Parade Hall of Fame in 2010.  It’s Cavaliere’s voice and creative energy that made their songs super hits. Famous for his distinctive rock and “blue-eyed” soul sound, Feliex was a member of Joey Dee and The Starliters  -- remember the “Peppermint Twist”? He went on to form The Young Rascals (who later became The Rascals) and sang lead on most of the tracks. He co-wrote their biggest hit, “People Got to Be Free,” with Eddie Brigati, which topped the charts for five weeks.

An accomplished musician, Felix studied piano and discovered the Hammond organ, which became his “trademark sound” along with his one-of-a-kind voice.  Cavaliere’s distinguished career as a solo artist is marked by the hit “Only A Lonely Heart Sees” which made #36 in the Billboard Pop 100 chart, and he has released six albums including the 2010 Midnight Flyer
