May the 4th Be With You at the Maritime Aquarium

Celebrate the official “Star Wars” holiday – May the 4th – in the biggest way possible with a screening of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” on the giant six-story IMAX® screen of The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.

May the 4th is considered as the official holiday of the movie franchise because the date is a pun of the catchphrase “May the force be with you.” (There’s even a website and Facebook page devoted to the day.)

On this year’s May the 4th holiday, audiences certainly will feel the force – of the powerful IMAX format – at a special screening of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” the latest installment of the epic sci-fi saga. Show time is 7:30 p.m.

Guests on May the 4th are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite “Star Wars” character, from any of the seven movies.

The Maritime Aquarium is showing “The Force Awakens” for the first time anywhere in Connecticut in 70mm IMAX film projection, offering images that are bigger, brighter, sharper and clearer than have been seen anywhere in the state before.

J.J. Abrams, director of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” shot key sequences of the movie using IMAX cameras, the highest-resolution cameras in the world. Only in IMAX theaters – like The Maritime Aquarium’s – do these sequences expand to fill the entire screen with breathtaking image quality for a truly immersive experience.

Can’t make it on May the 4th/”Star Wars Day”? There are more opportunities to experience “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” at The Maritime Aquarium in 70mm IMAX film projection:

• May 6 – June 26 – Fridays & Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 6 p.m.

The movie is 2 hours and 15 minutes long, and is rated PG-13 for sci-fi action violence.
