Artists Paint Rowayton

Artists in Rowayton will be spilling into the streets starting May 23. Plan on seeing artists all over the village in two upcoming Plein Air events: Paint Rowayton and Paint Out.

"Paint Rowayton" is a competition open to all artists who like to paint outdoors. Over a two-week period, (May 23- June 3) artists will paint scenes of Rowayton. On Friday, June 3, they’ll submit their work for judging. The judge is artist Elizabeth Agresta. The winning artwork will be hung in the Portside Gallery at the Rowayton Art Center – June 5-19.

“Paint Out” is a one-day event for speedy painters. At 9:30 am on Saturday, June 4, at the blare of the horn at the Firehouse, artists pick up their brushes and start painting. They have two hours to complete their paintings. At 11:30, artists will hear the second blast from the Firehouse to signal the end of the two hours. After the paintings dry, the artists will sell them that afternoon in Pinkney Park, 177 Rowayton Avenue. It’s a colorful day you don’t want to miss!
