Abstraction at Rowayton Art Center

The next exhibit at the Rowayton Arts Center flashes spring in bright colors and bold shapes.  “Abstraction” opens on Sunday, April 2, 4-6pm; the reception is free and open to the public.  Exhibit winners will be announced at the reception.

The juror for this exhibit will be Riad Miah from New York City. Mr. Miah, a lecturer, professor, and consultant, is also an award-winning abstract painter.  “I approach the creation of these paintings somewhat as a scientist approaches his/her research: interested in the aesthetics and the process of discovery rather than in solving a problem,” Mr. Miah said of his recent work.

“We could not be more pleased and delighted to have Riad Miah join us for this event,” said RAC President, Bruce Horan.

The "Abstraction" exhibition features art in any media, on any theme.  Exhibiting artists were encouraged to work with a large degree of  independence from realistic representation. Artwork is available for purchase.  The "Abstraction" chairperson is Barbara Seith and co-chair
is Ann Marie Tetelman. The exhibit will be up until April 23.

For almost 60 years, the Rowayton Arts Center has been a cultural gem in the community.  It is an exceptional gallery where regional artists may exhibit and sell their art as well as a wonderful venue for art workshops and classes. The RAC Art School offers classes to children
and adults at all levels. The RAC Gallery and Art School are located on the bank of the scenic
Five Mile River at 145 Rowayton Avenue.

Gallery hours are Tues.-Sat.: 11am-5pm, Sun., 1-4pm. For more information: rowaytonarts.org
