Night at the Library Sleepover

Fifth and sixth-graders are invited to spend a memorable overnight at Pequot Library on the evening of Sunday, April 9, hosted by Public Programs Manager, Tracy Steneken, and Teen Librarian, Christine Catallo. Enjoy an evening of fun-filled adventure and mystery. Hunt for treasures, share stories, and pop popcorn for your viewing of “The Librarian.” The cost is $50 per child. Registration Required.

The sleepover will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with a tale-telling ice breaker. A captivating tour of the library and the Pequot Founders: Building a Library and a Legacy exhibition will follow, wherein kids will learn the significance of this architectural gem and have fun experiencing our vivid history, from looking through a stereoscope to walking on a glass floor. Afterwards, pizza will be served and popcorn will be popped over a roaring fire in the Reading Room while kids participate in a story-telling activity.

Then a scavenger hunt will begin throughout the library, a desperate search for a “missing” artifact. Using the information they gain from the tour, the kids will work together to solve riddles that lead to the lost item. Once the location is revealed, they’ll unwind with a showing of ”The Librarian” in the historic Auditorium. Afterwards it’s lights out and pickup by 9:00 a.m. Early risers will have the opportunity to read independently or play a group game.
