EMMY-AWARD WINNING ARTIST, DAVID DUNLOP TO SPEAK AT WESTPORT ARTS CENTER
A special benefit lecture by master painter David Dunlop: teacher, lecturer, writer and artist on the Emmy Award-winning PBS series Landscapes Through Time with David Dunlop, will be held Saturday, April 29 from 2:30-4pm at the Westport Arts Center.
Dunlop’s lecture, "The Science of Expression; Art and Design," will explore the following questions: What subconscious processes are in play when we look at art, when we make art, when we decide to acquire art? How does our biology direct our making and perception of art? How do culture and biology determine art? How have they done this across time and place? How have we our ideas and purposes for art changed with culture, science and technology?
Mr. Dunlop, who lives and paints in Connecticut, is a modern-day old master whose luminous landscapes draw from both Renaissance techniques and contemporary science. His paintings have been shown internationally and are held in the collections of numerous major corporations.
