To catch even younger rising stars, RAC’s Junior Members (ages 12- 17) have their chance to show off their talent in an exhibit also opening on Sunday, June 4 (3:30-5:30pm), upstairs in the RAC studio.

Another exhibit, also opening on Sunday, June 4, is "Paint Rowayton."  The exhibit features the work of RAC'S Plein Air painters who will paint scenes of picturesque Rowayton over ten days - May 22 - June 2.  So if you see lots of people with easels set up around town, you'll know why.

Rowayton's Memorial Day celebration on Sunday, May 28 includes a host of activities for the whole family sponsored by the Art Center. Junior members are in the parade on a float they built. RAC artists and crafters will have booths with their work for sale. Event sponsors are Fairfield County Bank, Darien sports Shop, Brendan's 101 (ice cream!), Jack Munson Burton Memorial Fund. Also RAC's Plein Air painters will be competing "Paint Out Rowayton" a one-day contest culminating in awards and the sale of their art at 3 pm.

For almost 60 years, the Rowayton Arts Center has been a cultural gem in the community. It is an exceptional gallery where regional artists may exhibit and sell their art as well as a wonderful venue for art workshops and classes. The RAC Art School offers classes to children and adults at all levels. The RAC Gallery and Art School are located on the bank of the scenic Five Mile River in Rowayton, CT at 145 Rowayton Avenue. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday: 12pm-5pm, open in July and August on Sunday, 1pm-4pm. For more information: rowaytonarts.org  (Photo: Pilar Garra with Earth, Best in Show 2016)
