Tee Up for Education at the Maritime Aquarium

Avoid the water and the bunker – but give area school kids the chance to learn about the water and bunker, and seals and sharks and other marine animals – by teeing up for The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk’s 7th annual Maritime Golf Classic on Mon., Sept. 11.

Foursomes and individual golfers can register now for this fun day at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien. Proceeds provide financial assistance for science education, scholarships and subsidized bus transportation for thousands of children who benefit all year from the learning that takes place at The Maritime Aquarium.

Even more enticing is the chance to win a 2017 BMW 230i xDrive Convertible made available by BMW of Darien/Callari Auto Group. Sink a hole-in-one on Wee Burn’s par-3 7th hole and drive home in the sleek luxury sportscar, valued at $49,000. That would be hitting a perfect drive to win a perfect drive.

The Maritime Golf Classic includes carts, a barbecue lunch, refreshments, post-play hors d’oeuvres and dinner, a silent auction and other fantastic prizes. Registration/bag drop begins at 10:30 a.m. and lunch opens at 11 a.m., with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start.

Opportunities range from $4,000 for a foursome, $1,000 as an individual player, or $1,000 as a hole sponsor.

Chairman of the Golf Classic is Charlie Hinnant of Rowayton, a member of the Aquarium’s Board of Advisors.
