Music on the Hill opens its fall season this Sunday, October 15, with an uplifting concert of the Festival Chorus with artistic directors David H. Connell and Ellen Dickinson.
"The Power of Song" includes stylistically diverse selections, from English madrigals to Sweet Honey In The Rock, featuring works by Aaron Copland and Randall Thompson as well as newer works. Among them: contemporary composer Craig Carnahan's "Armistice 1918," his setting of the Siegfried Sassoon poem "Everyone Sang" written at the conclusion of WWI.

The concert begins at 3 p.m. at the Unitarian Church in Westport, 10 Lyons Plains Road. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door; students are free. Order tickets online at musiconthehillCT.org.

About Music on the Hill
Music on the Hill promotes engagement with music by offering workshops, a Summer Sings series, and four performing ensembles, all under the leadership of its esteemed artistic directors.
Ensembles are short-term commitments. Participants join for one music project at a time -- one rehearsal/concert cycle lasting four to six weeks. Ensembles consist of both new and returning members, with new participants always welcome. Learn more about ensembles and how to join by visiting the website. Music on the Hill, based in Wilton, is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to high-quality music performance and education for all ages.
