Open Auditions for Original Musical Spoof, Wreck The Halls

The Ridgefield Theater Barn will hold open auditions for Wreck the Halls, an original holiday musical spoof by Bradford Blake, who will also direct, September 23rd & 24th at 7pm.  Performances will be Friday and Saturday evenings, December 11th through January 2nd at 8pm, with Sunday matinees December 20th & 27th at 2pm.  There will be no performance Christmas Day, December 25th.  Rehearsals will be scheduled once the musical has been cast.

Little is sacred in this SLAY ride of adult humor that rips the shiny bows and pretty wrapping off the holiday season. Two acts of music-filled satire and burlesque that turns the last quarter of the calendar belly up. The score is reminiscent of all the popular songs of the season with melodies that almost remind you of WHITE CHRISTMAS, FROSTY THE SNOWMAN or HOLLY JOLLY CHRISTMAS…but the lyrics, that are laced with mistletoe and holly, are barbed with holiday jeer. Three women and three men (accompanied by a trio of musicians) guide us from Labor Day to New Year’s Eve lambasting a fruitcake who sees a therapist, a treetop angel who is tired of having a conifer up her backside, a man and a woman who have different aspirations about getting “in” the Rockettes, a Mr and Mrs Snowman who remain celibate for fear they might melt, a North Pole mystery ending in a Red-Nosed Reindeer Stew, and a Jewish mother roasting brisket on an open fire while Jack Cohen is nipping kosher wine, among other colorful characters not fit for print. Not recommended for the younger elves.

More information, including a detailed synopsis and complete cast breakdown for both productions, is available on the website, www.ridgefieldtheaterbarn.org
