Killer B Flies Into SoNo

If you've been sick (like me), or hiding out from the cold for the last month, you may not have noticed two recent additions to the SoNo strip.

The first, Killer B, a conceptual restaurant within a restaurant (located in/next to Johnny Utah's), is, in one word BIG. Looking over the menu, I could hear the faint cackle of Guy Fietti shouting out, (almost) EVERYTHING.HAS.BACON!

From the multi flavored bacon "tasting", served on clothes hanger, to massive cheeseburgers topped with large slabs, and the grand finale, a truly monster milkshake slathered in bacon bits, if you love pork belly, Killer B is for you.

While I do believe that adding bacon and/or pork fat to dishes is the autotune of the culinary industry, and can scream of laziness, the foundation of the food is what sets this menu above others I've seen.

My dining partner and I loved the crunch and sweetness of the bourbon bacon meatball appetizer, and the varied flavors of the candied bacon, spicy being our favorite. We also tasted the volcanic potatoes, which are stuffed, bacon wrapped baked, then fried potatoes with a heavy dosing of cheese. They were tasty, but a small addition of sour cream would've made them a must have. The star of the menu, the burgers are served atop thick, garlic Texas toast, and are top notch. The beef used is very high quality and tender, but I do recommend upgrading to the Wagyu beef to taste the best burger in SoNo, any way you style it. For the more meat-adverse, there are a few vegetarians options on the menu, particularly appetizers, so have no fear that you will starve.

For dessert, we split, and finished, the spiked vanilla bacon milkshake, and had the even more attention grabbing, table side smoked bourbon cocktail as a nightcap.

The sheer magnitude of the menu is what I'd be more apt to find in Las Vegas, but makes it so great is that you can eat and live like this on any night of the week, without succumbing to an annoying scene, or blowing your monthly budget. So, if you're looking for a delicious winter warming calorie splurge, look no further.

Does Killer B pander to the common denominator? Sure. But, that didn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying my meal, or craving another as I write this post...
