Darien YMCA Gymnasts Tops at Funomenal Flippers Invite

The titles just keep coming for the Darien YMCA girls gymnastics team. At the Funomenal Flippers Invite in Glastonbury, they won the team title for every Level they competed in. In addition, eleven gymnasts won individual All-Around (AA) titles for their Level and age group.

The Koproski sisters led the winning Level 3 squad, both taking the AA title in their age group. In the 6-7 years age group, Kayla scored 37.60 AA and was also first on vault, bars and floor and third on beam. Big sis Isabella scored 37.55 AA, won vault and floor and took second on beam and bars in the 10 senior group.

Also in the 6-7 group, Tess Hennigan swept second place in all events and AA while Taylor Davies won the beam title with a stellar 9.8 and placed third AA.  

In the 8s group, Emily Rizzi captured first AA with a huge 38.250, placed second on beam and won the vault, bars and floor titles. Olivia Davis was the beam champ with 9.7 and second on all other events and AA.  Ava Telgheder earned third on beam, fourth on floor, sixth on vault and fifth AA. Elise Hole was sixth on bars and beam and fifth on vault where Lily Royce earned her meet high score.

Stella Nehro was the AA champ in the 9 Junior group, placed fifth on vault, second on floor and took first on bars and beam with scores of 9.6 and 9.5. Katie Cutler placed second on bars and beam, third on vault and AA and fourth on floor. Katie Primmer soared to first on vault with 9.6 and placed fourth on bars and AA, fifth on floor and sixth on beam.  Alexandra Maniatty earned seventh on beam and AA, eighth on floor and sixth on bars while Tanner Shanley was eighth on vault.

Alex Kuras captured two titles in the 9 Senior group, winning vault and beam, placing sixth on bars, third on floor and fourth AA.  Shayna Moeller earned fourth on vault and sixth on beam while Madeleine McGivney was fifth on beam.

Two titles went to Jahnavi Orr in the 10 Junior group with 9.4 on vault and 9.5 on beam as well as sixth on floor and third AA. Jordan Moss flipped to first on floor with 9.35, was fourth on vault and sixth on beam and AA. Chloe Sernick placed third on vault, beam and floor and fifth AA in the 11s group.

The Level 4 team took first place by a three-point margin. In the 8-9 group, Sophie Root was second on beam, third on vault, fifth on bars, fourth AA and tied for fourth on floor with teammate Emily McKee. McKee was also fifth on vault. Ellie Davies was the beam and floor champ and placed fourth on vault and fifth AA.  Elsa Del Bene swung to first on bars with 9.1.

Anna Altier swept the titles in the 10s group, winning all four events and AA including a 9.6 on bars. Ava Licata earned third on beam, sixth on bars and fourth on vault and AA.  Penelope Arredondo took fourth on floor, fifth on beam and bars and sixth AA.  Annelise Enters vaulted to seventh and placed eighth on bars.  Sophia Geffner was eighth on vault and beam where Sydney Berk earned her meet high score.

There was more sweeping in the 11s group, where Abby O’Brien captured first on every event including a 9.85 on bars and 37.45 AA. Tanner Generoso took second on vault, fifth on bars and beam, fourth on floor and third AA.  Alexa Bell was sixth on bars and beam and eighth on floor while Alannah Morris vaulted to eighth.

In the 12s group, Brianna Barrientos placed third on vault and beam, fifth on bars and AA and third on beam. Alexandra Decsi took sixth on bars while Isabella Woodring was seventh on beam.

The champion Level 5 team was led by Sofia Iuteri who won the beam, floor and AA titles with 37.90 in the 12s group, placed third on vault and second on bars. Olivia Perkins took second on vault and floor and third on beam and AA. Sofia Imbrogno soared to the vault title with 9.3, placed fifth on bars, sixth on floor and beam and fourth AA.  

Julia Decsi was the AA champ for the 9-10 group with 36.95 and placed second on all other events. Lauren Smith earned second on floor and third on beam while Ali Kolman earned her meet high score on vault.

Iris West flipped to 9.4 for first on floor in the 11s group and was second on bars, beam and AA.  Anna Primmer took fourth on beam and third on floor. In the 13 and up group, Melanie Vernal placed second on vault and beam and fifth AA.

Abigail Nevin led the first place Level 6 team, winning vault, bars, floor and AA with 38.00 and placing second on beam in the 9-11 group. Anna Moss never wavered in winning the beam title with a stunning 9.85 and was second on all other events while Melina Cardini swept third place.

Emma Kelly scored a stellar 9.75 and 9.5 in winning the beam and floor titles in the 12s group and placed third on vault and second AA.  Megan Mitchell earned second on vault and bars and third on beam and AA.  Nima Rahbar was the vault champ as well as second on floor while Sommer Schmidt earned her meet high score on beam.

In the 13s group, Lucy Collins captured a trio of titles, winning bars, beam with 9.8 and AA with 37.55 and placing fifth on vault and third on floor. Megan Cutler earned seventh on vault and second AA and on all other events including floor where she tied with teammate Emma Neaderlander. Neaderlander also placed third on beam, second on vault and fourth AA.

The Level 7 squad won the team title by a huge margin of more than three points. In the 10-11 group, Sofia DeStefano was the vault champ and placed second on all other events and AA.  Holly McGoldrick took first on vault, floor and bars in the 13s group and placed second AA and third on beam.

In the 12s group, Leilani Nguyen captured the AA and bars titles with 37.4 and 9.55, placed second on vault and fourth on beam and floor. Saskia Chermayeff earned sixth on beam, third on vault and second on bars, floor and AA. Tori Ware was rock steady on beam for first with 9.7 as well as fifth on vault and third on bars and AA. Bella DeStefano was the vault and floor champ with 9.5 and 9.45 and sixth AA.

There was a tangle of ties for the remaining teammates. Gabriela Pye took second on beam, third on floor, fourth AA and sixth on bars and vault where she tied with twin Caterina. Caterina also earned fourth on bars, tied with Kate Wolters for third on beam and with Paige Domenici for fifth on floor. Wolters was also fifth on bars while Domenici vaulted to fourth.
