Connecticut Food Bank Packages Thanksgiving Food Deliveries

The Connecticut Food Bank is filling community food program orders in the busy days ahead of Thanksgiving with the help of volunteers from the U.S. Coast Guard, Sector Long Island Sound, and from the Waterbury Fire Fighters Association. On Monday, November 20, there are 33 programs currently scheduled to pick up orders between 7:30AM and 2:00PM.

In all, the Connecticut Food Bank will distribute more than 610,000 pounds of food for the Thanksgiving holiday. The Coast Guard and Fire Fighters will volunteer alongside staff at the Food Bank’s Wallingford distribution center on Monday, November 20, between 7:30AM and 2:00PM to assist Connecticut Food Bank member programs with loading their food orders into their vehicles. Orders will include frozen turkeys, fresh produce and nonperishable items that member programs will distribute to hungry people or will use to prepare meals for feeding programs. WHAT: Connecticut Food Bank member program food distribution

The Connecticut Food Bank is committed to alleviating hunger in Connecticut by providing food resources, raising awareness of the challenges of hunger and advocating for people who need help meeting basic needs. The Connecticut Food Bank partners with the food industry, food growers, donors and volunteers to source and distribute food, which last year provided 21 million meals. We distribute that food through a network of community based programs to six Connecticut counties - Fairfield, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London and Windham counties – where more than 300,000 people struggle with hunger.
