New Canaan Country School is proud to congratulate alumna Isabella Bean from the class of 2014 who was named a high school Scholar Athlete at the 34th Annual Connecticut Association of Schools-Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference banquet held May 7. Bella, as she is known to her friends, resides in Rowayton where she is a senior at Brien McMahon High School.
The Scholar Athlete program recognizes two high school senior student-athletes – one boy and one girl – from each Connecticut public high school "whose academic and athletic careers have been exemplary, whose personal standards and achievement are a model to others, and who possess high levels of integrity, self-discipline and courage," according to officials. The honorees are chosen by the high schools and are submitted to the CIAC.
Bella attended New Canaan Country School from Pre-K through Grade 8, where she distinguished herself in many areas including academically, as a leader within the close-knit school community, and as a member of the girls’ soccer, basketball and lacrosse teams.
“My curiosity and appreciation for both academics and athletics began at a very young age at Country School. My teachers and coaches gave me the confidence to strive to reach my fullest potential," said Bella.
Bella, who has also been selected as a “Teen to Watch,” by Moffly’s New Canaan, Darien & Rowayton Magazine, will attend the University of Virginia in the fall. Her parents and siblings, also alumni of the Country School, are Christopher Bean ’83 and Jeannie Staunton Bean ’83; siblings Anna Bean ‘15 and Finley Bean a member of the class of 2017.
New Canaan Country School is a co-ed, independent day school for students age 3 through Grade 9. Located on a 75-acre campus in New Canaan, the school offers transportation to families living in Westchester and Fairfield Counties. For more information, please visit countryschool.net.
