RNVA Presents “Which Flu Shot is Right for You?”

Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association (RVNA) is organizing a motivational Monday’s informative talk on Monday, October 5 on the subject of “Which Flu Shot is Right for You?” at Darien Senior Center in Darien. Mary Ellen Porrata, RVNA Community Health & Wellness Nurse, will be the speaker.  The influenza season begins in October, and the single best way to prevent the flu is to be vaccinated annually.  And because it takes about two weeks for the antibodies to develop after a flu vaccination, it is best to get vaccinated early.  But which flu vaccine should you get?  There are multiple types available to consumers, and the choices can be confusing.  Porrata will explain the different factors that one should consider when deciding which flu vaccine to receive, such as live vs. inactive viruses, the high dose option, and preservatives.  This event, which will take place on Monday, October 5, from 11am to Noon, is open to the public. Attendees should RSVP to Darien Senior Center at 203-655-1705. Darien Senior Center is located at 2 Renshaw Road in Darien.
