Norwalk Health Department Hosts: Ticks Be Aware on July 11

Learn How to Protect Yourself and Your Family at this Free Educational Session

If you’ve turned on the television, checked Facebook, or read the paper this summer, you have probably seen ticks (and the diseases they cause) in the news, but do you know how to protect yourself and your family from Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses this summer? Learn the latest information at a free educational session called TICKS…BE AWARE hosted by the Norwalk Health Department on Tuesday, July 11, at 7 pm in the Community Room at City Hall.

Jennifer Reid, Director of BLAST, a nationally recognized program that teaches the most effective actions to avoid tick bites and subsequent diseases, will teach attendees how to avoid tick bites, how to find and remove ticks safely and effectively, how to recognize symptoms of Lyme disease, why it’s so important to seek timely treatment. Jennifer has focused on eradicating tick-borne diseases for almost 15 years, and the information she will present is based on the latest research from the Connecticut Emerging Infections Program at Yale University and the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station.

Make sure your outdoor fun this summer starts with the most effective prevention practices to avoid tick bites. When it comes to ticks, be aware!
