Open Source Recovery Radio is a weekly podcast covering the issues surrounding addiction and recovery from addiction. Hosted by Dr. Marc Bono, co-founder of the Center for Compassionate Recovery (CCR) in Madison, CT, the podcast looks to find organizations in Connecticut and across the country that developed creative solutions, have inspiring stories, and offer resources to those afflicted by and affected by addiction. Founded in 2015 by three doctors, The Center for Compassionate Recovery offers high-quality outpatient opiate addiction treatment. Their Fresh Start Program combines Suboxone, a medication approved to treat opiate addiction in 2003, with weekly psychotherapy in individual and group sessions to treat the many facets of addiction. Medical and clinical staff collaborate and communicate on a regular basis to support each patient through the recovery process. Screening, assessment, and the treatment of co-occurring illnesses is a routine component of the care provided. Experts consider the use of medication-assisted treatment, such as CCR's Fresh Start Program, as the most effective path towards recovery.
