Open Source Recovery Radio Podcast Shares Real Experiences with the Opiate Epidemic in Connecticut

The Open Source Recovery Radio podcast is looking for guests to speak about their experience with the opiate epidemic for an upcoming series exploring peoples' perspective across the community. Open Source Recovery Radio is a weekly podcast covering the issues surrounding addiction and recovery from addiction. Hosted by Dr. Marc Bono, co-founder of the Center for Compassionate Recovery (CCR) in Madison, CT, the podcast looks to find organizations in Connecticut and across the country that developed creative solutions, have inspiring stories, and offer resources to those afflicted by and affected by addiction. Shows are broadcast on Mondays at 8:30 to 9:30 P.M. on PPRNRadio.net. Listeners may call into the show at (203) 992-7776 to speak with Dr. Bono and his guests. Spreaker.com archives previous episodes.

The upcoming series of episodes hopes to illuminate the multifaceted and complex issues that make up the opiate epidemic. Individuals from all vantage points are welcome to share their stories and perspectives: from those who are addicted to their family members, first responders to treatment providers, members of legal aid to those in the justice and correctional systems, schools and colleges, advocacy groups, and anyone else who would like to speak of their experiences. If you, or someone you know, might be interested in appearing on Open Source Recovery Radio, please email outreach@ccrfreshstart.com or call (203) 421-6071.

Founded in 2015 by three doctors, The Center for Compassionate Recovery offers high-quality outpatient opiate addiction treatment. Their Fresh Start Program combines Suboxone, a medication approved to treat opiate addiction in 2003, with weekly psychotherapy in individual and group sessions to treat the many facets of addiction. Medical and clinical staff collaborate and communicate on a regular basis to support each patient through the recovery process. Screening, assessment, and the treatment of co-occurring illnesses is a routine component of the care provided. Experts consider the use of medication-assisted treatment, such as CCR's Fresh Start Program, as the most effective path towards recovery. CCR accepts most major insurances, including Connecticut's Husky Healthcare (Medicaid), and offers immediate openings. If you, or somebody you know, needs treatment, please contact CCR's Patient Coordinator at (203) 245-0572.
