Redding Police Blotter - Week of March 25th - DUI, Vandalism, Garbage Truck Backs Into Home

In the afternoon on Wednesday March 20th, 2013, Officer Christina Dias answered a call from a homeowner on Fairview Farm Road who believed his home

had been broken into. He noticed the event after realizing that many things from

his home had been moved. Nothing from the house was reported missing,

and the case is under investigation.

 

On Friday March 22nd, 2013, around 10:00 PM, Officer Ryan Alcott reported to

a call for disorderly conduct at Mohawk Trail. No arrests were made and the case is under investigation.

 

Saturday March 23rd, 2013, 10:45 A.M., Officer

Christina Dias reported to a call for over placed plates. Estelle Wilcox,

age 43 of Wagon Wheel Road was stopped for the over placed plates. She

was summoned with operating under a suspended license and driving an

unregistered vehicle. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 5 th, 2013,

and was not allowed to drive away after being stopped.

 

On Friday March 22nd, 2013 at 3:25 P.M. Officer Ryan Alcott reported to a

motor vehicle accident on Newtown Turnpike. Joseph Medina,

age 46 of Waterbury was traveling northbound on Newtown Turnpike when

he was struck by Penelope Anderson, age 67 from Weston who was

traveling southbound on Newtown Turnpike. Anderson was at fault because

Medina had the right of way. Medina was transported to Danbury

Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

 

Sunday Morning at 3:14 A.M, Officer Jason Heibeck responded to

a car crash on Deacon Abbott Road. The crash involved two fifteen year old

boys from Redding who had taken a car from their parents without permission

and crashed into a telephone pole, snapping it in half. The car crash caused

power lines to land on the car and caused a roadblock. The 2 boys will appear

in Juvenile Court and face speeding and license violations.

 

Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident Monday morning at 3:22 A.M.

The accident took place on Limekiln Road; the conductor of the vehicle fell

asleep at the wheel and crashed his 2013 Subaru Impreza into a tree. The crash

resulted in the car catching on fire, adding to the severe front-end damage of

the car. The driver was identified as Emily Jessep, age 22. She was written a

warning for failure to drive in the proper lane.

 

Officer Christina Dias responded to a call last Tuesday March 19th, 2013

at 12:34 mid-day on 14 Packer Brook Road. The call was in response to a

garbage truck that backed up into the house. The truck driver was identified

as John Fisher, age 45 of Bethel, who was driving a Winters Brothers garbage

removal truck during the accident. According to reports there was significant

damage done to the house. Connecticut Light And Power and the Building

Company were called to declare whether the house was in stable condition.

 

An arrest was made by the Westport Police Department last Wednesday, March

20. Luis Calabrese, age 34 of Ridgefield, was stopped for a motor

vehicle infraction that led to his arrest after police discovered a warrant dating back to

an incident that occurred on March of 2011. The warrant was due to a charge

of 6th degree larceny.

 

2 separate incidents dealing with vandalism were reported Sunday, March 17th around

9:45 P.M. Officer Christina Dias and Sergeant Marc Deluca responded to

separate calls both of which led them to discover slashed tires on Great Oak Lane.

The incidents are under investigation as vandalism continues to be an issue

in town.

 

Also on Sunday night, Officer Jason Heibeck responded to a call made about a

vehicle that was traveling erratically Southbound on route 58. The officer

responded quickly and stopped a vehicle that fit the descriptions. He then

tested 43-year-old Jorge Yupangui of Danbury with a sobriety test which he

failed. Yupangui was immediately arrested

and charged with driving without a license and driving while under the influence

of alcohol. Yupangui was released on bond and will appear in court on April

4th, 2013.
