What Parents Need to Know

Featuring Kelly Mullins, Program Manager of Education and

Community Outreach at the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury

 

This presentation will define sexual harassment and give insights into the impact on an individual child as well as a school’s climate.  There will be tips and techniques to help parents talk to their children and to help them reinforce the lessons taught in school presentations.  Parents will learn the warning signs and the consequences a child may face as the victim or harasser.  Resources and steps for reporting will also be discussed. 

Kelly Mullins, Program Manager of Education and Community Outreach at the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury, is a certified Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault counselor/advocate and she holds certificates in Conflict Management, Mediation and Group facilitation.  She is trained in Girl’s Circle group facilitation, Promoting Pro-Social Behavior in Childhood and Innovative Ways to Reach & Engage Youth in Awareness.  She holds a degree in Communication and Theatre Arts.  She has been a Prevention Educator at the Women’s Center of Greater Danbury since 2007 and a residential counselor at a domestic violence shelter prior to that.  She is also the creator and director of ACT OUT, an interactive educational theatre troupe.
