Nutmeg Festival Donations Now Being Accepted

The 109th edition of St. Stephen’s Nutmeg Festival in Ridgefield will take place Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Committee members are accepting tax-deductible donations of items to be sold from parishioners and neighboring communities beginning Saturday, May 30, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. behind the church at 351 Main St. A large portion of the fair’s proceeds goes to local charities.

The Nutmeg Festival, one of Connecticut’s oldest church fairs, features food, entertainment, furniture, crafts, art, a Silent Auction, Raffle, books and games for children. Most of the items sold are donations that are unearthed during spring cleaning, moving sales, etc.

According to Nutmeg chairman, Kurt Liddi, “We are happy to accept bicycles, furniture (used, barely used and brand-new), gardening and other tools, sports equipment, children’s toys and games, jewelry, books, kitchen utensils and other household goods, as well as antiques and other treasures.” All donations are tax deductible.

The committee regrets that it cannot accept computer monitors, oversized furniture, press board furniture, humidifiers/dehumidifier, air conditioners, plumbing fixtures, mattresses/box springs, exercise machines, home health equipment, baby cribs, car seats, changing tables, large rear-projection TV’s, clothing, used stuffed animals, encyclopedias, text books or dictionaries.                             Additional drop-off dates are June 13, June 27, and July 11, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
