Governor Malloy Proclaims Oct 11, 2015 Chowdafest Day

Chowdafest, presented by Stop & Shop, started in Westport seven years ago, attracting local restaurants and a few hundred attendees from Fairfield County.  Over the years, the event has attracted great chefs and restaurants from all over the state  of Connecticut and now showcases forty (40) restaurants representing every New England state and twelve states in all.

In recognition of what Chowdafest continues to do for its state, Governor Malloy has officially declared Sunday Oct. 11, 2015 as “Chowdafest Day”.  “This is quite an honor” said Jim Keenan, event director.  “It's been great seeing incredible chefs and restaurants come from all corners of the state to compete and now defend CT's chowder heritage against all comers.” The Governor's proclamation acknowledges all the restaurants, volunteers and sponsors who have contributed to the event's success over the years, supporting the ongoing fight against food insecurity.

Chowdafest takes place this Sunday Oct. 11, 2015 at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport CT from 11am to 3pm.  Adult tickets are just $15 and kids (6-12) are $5.  Parking is FREE.  Tickets can be purchased at the event or on-line at www.Chowdafest.org. Chowdafest raises funds for Community Plates, a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating hunger through the rescue of food from restaurants, grocery stores and farms.  For additional information about Chowdafest, please visit www.chowdafest.org or email event director, Jim Keenan at chowdafest@gmail.com.
