Still working on your spring cleaning, even though summer's hazy days are upon us? If you've yet to tackle your book shelves, here's a reminder – The Mark Twain Library will be accepting donations until Friday, August 1. After that, the volunteers behind the scenes who sort, price and box the books will be devoting their energies to the set-up of the 54th Annual Book Fair. So Book Fair volunteers have issued an appreciative but urgent plea: if you're planning on donating any used books to the Library, please do so before the end of next week.
The 54th Annual Mark Twain Library Book Fair, scheduled for Labor Day weekend (August 29 to September 1) at the Redding Community Center. With close to 65,000 titles amassed, this year's fair will continue in its rich tradition as one of the biggest – and the best.
The first day, Friday, 29th, there will be an "Early Buying" admission charge of $10.00 between 9:00 am and 10:00 am. After 10:00 am, admission is free, with each individually priced book for sale as marked. On August 30th, books will be sold as marked; Sunday is half price day. On Labor Day Monday from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm, customers can purchase a box for $10.00 and fill it with as many books as they'd like. Parking is free, and refreshments will be available. All proceeds benefit the Mark Twain Library.
