Get cooking! New Canaan Library is pleased to host a special culinary event on Thursday, September 4th, from 6 – 7:30 PM. Chef Silvia Baldini, Founder of Strawberry and Sage, will demonstrate how to transform locally-grown, seasonal vegetables into elegant, healthy dishes for home entertaining. Joining her is Analiese Paik, Founder of Fairfield Green Food Guide. Both will give participants the inside track on resources for buying local and organic food and ingredients.
Join these experts for a class that will both educate and inspire, with cooking demonstrations, recipes, education and tastings. The class covers:
• Vegetable crudite- focus on knife skills and tips for elegant displays
• Vegetable tarts – learn one crust to use with five different fillings
• Vegetable and fruit soups – learn one base to create 10 delicious soups
Silvia Baldini always dreamed of being a chef, even during her successful career as an art director. After 17 years in advertising she realized her dream by returning to school, graduating from the Cornell and French Institute and ultimately receiving a Grand Cuisine Diploma from Le Cordon Bleu, London. After working as a chef at prestigious Michelin star restaurants throughout Europe, Silvia returned to the East Coast and established her creative food group, Strawberry and Sage. Silvia has been featured in Saveur, the James Beard Blog, and has appeared on national TV cooking shows. Among her many clients are Bank of America, Royal Scottish Society, and Vista Caballo as well as private individuals, celebrities, food photographers and cookbook authors.
