Colonial Cocktails, Concert and Family Day

The New Canaaan Historical Society is celebrating 125 years, and to mark the occasion they will be honoring the past 12 presidents over cocktails and appetizers on Friday, October, 10th. A concert of early American music will also be performed by Eric Lichack and Vincent Costa, on the harpsichord and the baroque flute. Invitations will be sent out to current members. Presidents to be honored include: Marne Gleason, John R. Schoemer, Kathy Schoemer, Janet Lindstrom, Mary Catherine Scott, Sonia Macdonald, Raymond D. Lenoue, William H. Kirby, Christina Duncan, Susan S. Bishop, Prudence M. Parris, and R. Bailey Stewart.

The celebrations continue on Saturday, October 11th between 11:00am – 3:00pm (rain date October, 12th) where families are invited to experience a 'Colonial Day'. Starting off the proceedings a rousing fife and drum performance, followed by military drills, dancing and other fun activities. Colonial exhibitions include: candle-making, quill writing, weaving, printing and spinning. You will be encouraged to tour the campus, visiting the the general store and various museums - where costumed docents will be available to help you explore 18th century New Canaan!

The New Canaan Historical Society's mission is to bring together and arrange the historical events of the town of New Canaan, the genealogies of the families who have lived in the town, to form a library and to collect relics and curiosities, to form a museum.
