"Great Expectations" Library Benefit Gala to Be Held April 25

This year’s Great Expectations Gala, the Ridgefield Library’s annual benefit, will take place on Saturday, April 25, at the Library, 427 Main St., from 6:30-10:30. The event, open to the public, will feature cocktails, a sit-down dinner and entertainment. The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Library’s 2015 Hope H. Swenson Visionary Award to Ridgefield residents Nick and Anita Donofrio.

The award is named for the late Hope Swenson (pictured), who lived in Ridgefield for nearly 40 years and for 35 of those years was a member of the Library Board. “At her passing in 2010, she envisioned a wonderful new library for her beloved Ridgefield, and her dream was truly the cornerstone on which the new one was built,” said Christina Nolan, director of the Ridgefield Library. “This award honors those, like Hope, who embody the vision and mission of our Library.”

Nick Donofrio, over the course of a 44-year career at IBM, established himself as one of the information technology industry’s most respected and innovative leaders. Locally, he and his wife, Anita, are widely recognized for their generous contributions of time, funding, counsel and advocacy on behalf of Ridgefield’s most prominent charitable organizations and community groups, including the Library’s ongoing Donofrio Technology Series for children.

Tickets to Great Expectations are $250. A portion of the cost is tax deductible. For reservations contact Laureen Bubniak, director of development, at LMBubnik@RidgefieldLibrary.org.
