Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Brings Exotic Animals to the Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, April 25

Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom’s host Peter Gros brings exotic animals to the stage of The Ridgefield Playhouse Saturday, April 25

There is perhaps no better way for children to gain a respect for wild life than by meeting some exotic animals “in person”!  Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom with Peter Gros is returningto The Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, April 25, at 5 p.m. & 7:30 p.m., with a bevy of wild animals that will amaze.

Peter is an expert in animal affairs and will share his timeless tales in an interactive show guaranteed to thrill. A mix of video clips showing the adventures he has had filming wild animals, plus some blooper clips, will help share his story while introducing friendly exotic animals to the audience of all ages (recommended for 4 and up). Peter’s stories about dealing with issues of conservation, travel, and wildlife filming will inspire and educate the whole family. As a special treat, Scooby Doo, mascot of South Salem Animal Hospital, will be in the lobby for photo ops. Dimitri’s (16 Prospect St., Ridgefield) is offering 10% off the bill before or after the show when tickets are presented. An exhibit of work by wildlife artist Betsey Fowler will be in the lobby.  A portion of sales of Betsey’s work will benefit The New Canaan Land Trust.

The New Canaan Land Trust
will host a cocktail & dessert reception with Peter Gros and past co-host of Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Jim Fowler following the 7:30 p.m. show to honor Fowler, an animal expert and naturalist, for his lifelong dedication to preserving the Natural World for future generations. Proceeds benefit The New Canaan Land Trust. This event is partially underwritten by Mutual of Omaha CT Division Office, Ridgefield Academy, Ridgefield Pediatric Associates, and South Salem Animal Hospital/Noah’s Ark Animal Hospital and Woodcock Nature Center, with support from Ridgefield Library, and is part of the Pepsi Children’s Series with media sponsor 98Q. The Union Savings Bank Arts for Everyone recipient is Amos House.

In past Playhouse shows, Peter has been accompanied by a 50-lb. Binturong, a 6' alligator, a Giant African porcupine, a 5 ft. monitor lizard Lemur,

Eurasian Eagle owl (the largest owl in the world, flying over people’s heads to the stage), a kookaburra who will sing with the audience, and so many more furry friends. Peter Gros has nearly 30 years of field experience with captive wildlife. He is a licensed Exhibition & Animal Educator for the U.S.D.A. and an active member of the American Zoo and Aquariums Association and Zoological Association of America.
