The Generator Lights Up Keeler Tavern

The Ridgefield Arts Council invites local artists and creative professionals to the next installment of “The Generator.” The networking event will feature three speakers discussing their respective artistic endeavors, and will be held at 7:30pm, Monday, April 27th in the Carriage Barn of Keeler Tavern.

During the event, artists, writers and performers gather with the goal of learning, sharing, and networking with others to enhance both their creative process and their careers.  The events are managed via the website Meetup.com and feature innovative speakers, arts demonstrations and presentations geared toward the creative community.

Visual artist Spencer Eldridge will discuss the circular path of his paintings, which have evolved from abstraction to representation and back to abstraction. Eldridge’s current landscape paintings are on exhibit at the Keeler Tavern Carriage Barn.

Actress Dawn Brown-Berenson will discuss the inspiration behind her work in the performing arts. Berenson has performed with the Saltbox Theatre and Fleetwood Stage in New Rochelle, has worked at the Northern Westchester Center for the Arts, and was the creative drama teacher at the Katonah Arts Center.

And poet Pamela Hart will discuss the process of verbalizing the visual, as in the poetry / visual language found in Kuba textiles.   Hart received a 2013 NEA Creative Writing Fellowship and is writer-in-residence at the Katonah Museum of Art where she directs an arts education program.

Following the brief presentations, members of The Generator will be encouraged to mix and mingle with presenters and each other.  Creative types who live in and around Ridgefield are welcome to attend.  Cost of attending The Generator is $5 for pre-registration (via meetup.com/The-Generator-Ridgefield-CT) or $10 at the door, which covers the cost of wine and light snacks.

Keeler Tavern is located at 132 Main Street in Ridgefield. For more information about the Ridgefield Arts Council, visit their FaceBook page or www.ridgefieldartscouncil.org.
