St. Stephen’s to Present Choral Evensong

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 351 Main St., will present its final Choral Evensong of the current season on Sunday, May 31, at 5 p.m. Choral Evensong is the centuries-old tradition of sung Evening Prayer, which also includes elements of Compline, the final church service of the day.

“Everyone is welcome to join us for a meditative hour filled with wonderful music and readings,” said Scott Toperzer, minister of music at St. Stephen’s.

The Choral Evensong will be sung by the St. Stephen’s Choir and the St. Stephen’s Choristers. Selections will include the music of Alec Wyton, a former minister of music at St. Stephen’s; Craig Phillips; Andrew Walker and Henry Shera.

The Chorister program at St. Stephen’s is a comprehensive music education for children from third grade through high school. Choristers learn vocal training, musical skills, repertoire, how to be part of a choir, and the place of the choir in the church and the world.

All are invited to a wine and cheese reception in the church's South Hall after the service.
