New York Times Bestselling Author Jane Green to Speak in Westport on Aug. 4

New York Times bestselling author and Westport resident Jane Green will be the luncheon speaker at the Aug. 4 meeting of the Westport Rotary Club. Green will speak on the topic of “Under the Covers with Jane Green: A Slice of Life in Words and Food.” The public is invited to attend this meeting, which takes place from 12 - 1:30 p.m. at Branson Hall of Christ & Holy Trinity Church (55 Myrtle Ave. in Westport, Conn.). The luncheon cost for guests is $20.

Green is a New York Times bestselling author of seventeen novels. Her most recent, "Summer Secrets," was released in late June of this year. Passionate homemaker, cook, and budding entrepreneur, Green has also self-published her first cookbook, "Good Taste," using Kickstarter, an online crowdsourcing funding platform. Public enthusiasm and support for "Good Taste" was tremendous and the project was funded in the first five days of its 34-day campaign. "Good Taste" is scheduled to arrive in October of this year.

Green is published in over 25 languages, and has more than 10 million books in print worldwide. A former journalist in the U.K., the British-born author has regularly appeared on television shows including Good Morning America, The Martha Stewart Show, and The Today Show. Along with writing books and blogs, she contributes to various publications, both online and in print, including anthologies and novellas, and features for The Huffington Post, The Sunday Times, Cosmopolitan, and Self. She has taught at writers’ conferences and does regular keynote speaking.

A graduate of the French Culinary Institute in New York, Green filled two of her books, "Saving Grace" and "Promises to Keep," with recipes culled from her own collection. She says she only cooks food that is “incredibly easy, but has to look as if you have slaved over a hot stove for hours.” This is because she has five children, and has realized that “when you have five children, nobody ever invites you anywhere.”

Her philanthropic activities include support for Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, Melanoma Research Alliance, and the Global Lyme Alliance, which recently honored Jane with the Star Light Award for her work educating the public about Lyme disease.

Geren lives in Westport, Conn. with her husband and their blended family. When she is not writing, cooking, gardening, filling her house with friends and herding chickens, she is usually thanking the Lord for caffeine-filled energy drinks. A malignant melanoma surivor who also lives with Chronic Lyme Disease, she believes gratitude and focusing on the good in life is the secret to happiness.

The public is always welcome to attend Rotary Club luncheon meetings which take place on Tuesdays from 12 - 1:30 p.m. Luncheon cost is $20. The Club welcomes membership inquiries.
